Today, participants joined into teams of 5–6 people and worked on a problem from Central University, Simetra, and MIPT. It was a true engineering challenge: the participants had to optimize the operation of a city's traffic lights to make traffic flow more efficient and predictable.
The teams worked with a traffic simulation and had to configure optimal operating modes for the traffic lights at intersections. They needed to account for flow intensity, delays, traffic safety, public transport operations, and even the possibility of a "green wave" — a mode in which cars pass through several intersections in a row without stopping.
In essence, participants were building a traffic-light control system that:
This was the first team round in the history of the Olympiad.
VK proposed introducing this format to bring the competition closer to the international level — the AIOI format, the selection for which Central University and the AI Alliance invite all finalists of the All-Russian Artificial Intelligence Olympiad to take part in.
In the evening, participants enjoyed a tour of the T-Bank office.

In essence, participants were building a traffic-light control system that:
- minimizes congestion and delays,
- increases throughput capacity,
- accounts for traffic dynamics in real time,
- and makes travel more comfortable for both drivers and passengers.
